Rarelane started with a simple frustration and turned into a checking process we now run on every single pair.
The short version
We kept buying "premium" sneakers online. Some arrived great. Others had glue bleeding at the seam, a sole that flexed wrong, or a box that had clearly been opened and re-taped. There was never anyone to talk to about it, and the return process was designed to make you give up.
So we built the thing we wanted to buy from. Rarelane sells a tight, curated range instead of an endless catalogue, and every pair gets opened and checked before it goes out the door. If something's off, it doesn't ship — you don't find out at delivery.
What "hand-checked" actually means
It isn't a marketing line. Here's the checklist every pair goes through before it's packed:
Stitching & glue lines
We check the seams along the upper and where the upper meets the midsole. Any visible glue bleed, loose thread or uneven stitch and the pair goes back.
Sole bond & flex
Each shoe gets flexed by hand to confirm the sole is bonded properly along the full length — this is the single most common failure point on cheap footwear.
Pair match
Left and right are compared side by side for colour, texture and height. Mismatched pairs happen more often than you'd think, and they're the easiest thing to catch.
Size verification
The box label is checked against the shoe itself. A mislabelled box is the number one reason a size exchange gets triggered, and it's avoidable.
Packing
Box, tissue, laces and any extras are confirmed present, then the box goes into a protective outer so it doesn't arrive crushed.

what you're getting.
Every listing spells out the materials and the quality grade of the pair, so there are no surprises when the box opens. If a detail isn't on the page, message us on WhatsApp and we'll tell you plainly — before you order, not after.
How we handle it when we get it wrong
We're not going to pretend nothing ever goes wrong. When it does, the process is short: message us on WhatsApp with your order number and a photo. If it's on us, we arrange the pickup and send the replacement — you don't pay return shipping and you don't argue with a form.

Where we're going
Right now it's sneakers, and only the styles we'd actually wear. We'd rather carry 16 pairs we can vouch for than 400 we can't. As the range grows, the checking process doesn't change — that's the whole point.
